Spelling possessives

From the small number of writings which remain to us, it is apparent that these priests were skilled healers who possessed a materials science, much of which is still a mystery to us. There were always two parts to these sciences—one was mental/spiritual and the other physical. For example, the preparation of a medicine included the processing of a material accompanied by certain words, spells, incantations or rituals. And in prescribing, the patient was given the medicine with instructions to repeat a spell or prayer. The proper timing of these things was equally important. 

Here (5) is an internal relation between A and B, whereas (4) would be an external relation according to the tentative definition. Yet any attempt to define what it means to have power must involve a reference to other people. In one simple conceptualization of power, my amount of allround power is defined as the number of people over tidumt I have control, so that the relational character of power appears explicitly. In another, more complex characterization my power depends on my contrd over resources in which other people have an interest - also a relationally defined property. Similarly, the possession of money must also, if spelled out, involve a reference to other people who are prepared to accept my money as payment for goods. Wittgenstein remarks somewhere that it is impossible to make sense of the statement "It is five o clock on the sun", and it would also be nonsensical to say that Robinson Crusoe on his island could be rich by the mere possession of gold coins. 

If we possessed a magical spell with which to recognize the best individuals of the rising generation at an early age. .. then we would be able to train... 

All of the groups likely to be involved in the emergency response should possess a copy and be familiar with the organization s emergency response manual. The manual should spell out in detail, but still as simply and as flexibly as possible, the correct response to the classes... 

Resources and Authority (4) All personnel believe they posses necessary authority and resources to meet their responsibiUties.
