Many conferences have sections on spectroscopy, including those held by the Materials Research Society, the American Chemical Society, the Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies, and the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh and the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh. These conferences include presentations and posters on state-of-the-art research, as well as opportunities for... 

Some hmited progress is being made, such as the discussion and workshop sessions on automatic analysis now featured at the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Apphed Spectroscopy [4], and at least one region of the American Chemical Society has sponsored training schools in the subject.
