3 Spectrophotometric determination using NaDDTC General remarks 

At a pH between 4 and 11, copper (II) ions react with sodium diethyl dithio-carbamate (NaDDTC) to form a brownish-yellow complex 

Direct determination of between 0.005 and 0.5 mg Cu2+ is possible with 100 ml of water sample. 

If cyanide, cyanide complexes or considerable quantities of organic substances are present, the water sample must be mineralized take for example 100 

Spectrophotometer or photometer, 435 nm Cuvettes, path length 1 - 5 cm Water, deionized and copper-free Sodium diethyl dithiocarbamate solution
