Specification of safety functions

The next step involves the specification of safety functions that are implemented to protect the personnel from risks identified in the PRA. 

In order to protect the persoimel from prompt radiation issued from the circulation of beams in the LHC, two safety functions are put into place  

maintain a safe position and lock the entrances and exits of interlocked zones 

detect the non-safe position of an IIS Access in an interlocked zone, stop the circulating beams in the LHC, and prevent a new beam injection through the injection tunnels (FS2). 

The two functions must be guaranteed while the LHC is in the Beam operation mode or any transitoiy mode involving the Beam mode.
