Specification of Intended Learning Outcomes

Intended learning outcomes describe what the student will be able to do as a result of the course. These outcomes should be observable, that is, it must be possible for students to demonstrate, and faculty to determine, whether and how well the learning outcomes have been met. Therefore, statements of student performance use active verbs and phrases, such as describe, give examples of, choose, explain in your own words, estimate, calculate, solve, apply, design, interpret, plan, evaluate, modify, decide, sketch, critique.
