Special Operating Features of DMFCs

In the present chapter we examine the basic questions pertaining to all types of DMFCs, regardless of their future applications. Specific features of small plants for portable devices are considered in Chapter 17. [Pg.79]

The peripheral equipment needed for DMFCs is largely analogous to that of PEMFCs. The mechanical basis of cells and batteries on the whole consists of the bipolar plates between which the membrane-electrode sandwiches (MEAs) are arranged. Eor the venting of heat, cooling plates with a circulating heat-transfer agent are set up in a particular order between individual cells in batteries. [Pg.79]

The major distinguishing features of DMFCs relative to PEMFCs are  [Pg.79]

Various provisions have been suggested to account for these special features. [Pg.79]

It was pointed out by Oedegaard et al. (2004) that to secure free flow of both the methanol solution and the gas, the pore distribution in the GLDL must be [Pg.79]
