Sorption of plasticizer

A special mold is prepared for this test in which 5 g of PVC is hand-mixed with a spatula imhl the end point is leached. The end point is reached when the mixture slides off of the blade. Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate is used as a standard plashdzer to compare differerrt grades of PVC. Plashcizer sorphon is calcrrlated in weight parts of plasticizer per 100 parts of resirt, phr. 

Planetary mixer with a jacketed steel bowl is used for determinahon of hot plasticizer absorphon. The bowl is kept at 75°C, plashcizer is added and the temperature eqthhbrated. PVC is added (half of the amormt of the plasticizer), mixed in planetary mixer and samples are taken in hme intervals. Samples are tested as described above by 

German standard contains a procedure which is similar to ISO 

Several methods can be used to determine specific gravity of the plasticizer  

Hydrometer method for liquid industrial chemicals gives specific gravity in metric system of units. Special standards exist for halogenated compounds.
