Solution structural characterization

As explained in the preceding section, we will discuss the structure of aromatic diazonium salts on the basis of evidence from X-ray investigations. We will supplement those results with data obtained by other physical methods, in particular NMR and IR spectroscopy. Earlier experience with the more stable arenediazonium salts enabled those scientists who first obtained alkanediazonium ions in solution to characterize them by NMR spectroscopy (see Zollinger, 1995, Sec. 2.1). [Pg.66]

Somewhat limited work has been reported over the last decade. There are several reports on the synthesis and physical and structural characterization of styrene-dimethylsiloxane 141 144) and methylmethacrylate-dimethylsiloxane145> diblock, triblock and multiblock copolymers. Several reports are also available on the thermal223), solution 224,2251 and surface196 2261 characterization of various styrene-dimethyl-siloxane block copolymers synthesized by anionic techniques. [Pg.29]

Especially notable is also the synthesis and structural characterization of an unusual antimony(III) guanidinate. 1,2,3-Tiiisopropylguanidine, Pr N = C(NHPr )2,was found to react with 1 molar equivalent of Sb(NMe2)3 in toluene under formation of a yellow solution, from which the novel compound Sb[Pr NC(NPr )2][Pr NHC(NPr )2] could be isolated in 10% yield as highly air-sensitive crystals. In the solid state, the complex adopts a heavily distorted trigonal-bipyramidal molecular structure in which the Sb is chelated by a [CfNPr ls] dianion and a [Pr NHC(NPr )2] monoanion (Figure 16). Supramolecular... [Pg.225]

The so-prepared compounds are stable in the pure form, whereas they easily undergo consecutive reactions in solution under cleavage of the E—E bond (see Sect. 3.1). Four tetraalkyldistibine (32-35) and two -dibismuthine bisadducts (36 and 37) have been structurally characterized (Table 8). [Pg.136]

Consequently, sulfur dissolves in polysulfide solutions much faster than in equimolar monosulfide solutions [73]. In this context it is of interest that the analogous decaselenium dianion Scio has been prepared and structurally characterized in solid [PPN]2Seio [74]. This anion is however bi-cyclic. [Pg.138]

NMR spectroscopy is the most powerful method for structural elucidation in solution and advances in NMR techniques have made significant impacts on anthocyanin studies. Complete structural characterization of anthocyanins is possible with one- and two-dimensional NMR techniques. However, relatively large quantities of... [Pg.495]

A theoretical prediction of water-soluble polymer solutions is difficult to obtain due to their ability to build up aggregations and associations. A prediction of the viscosity yield is much easier to observe for solutions of synthetic polystyrene due to its simple solution structure. These solutions have been well characterized in other studies [19-23] concerning their chemical composition, molar mass and sample polydispersity. [Pg.8]

So far the results have been shown in which the metal alkoxide solutions are reacted in the open system. It has been shown that the metal alkoxide solutions reacted in the closed container never show the spinnability even when the starting solutions are characterized by the low acid content and low water content (4). It has been also shown from the measurements of viscosity behavior that the solution remains Newtonian in the open system, while the solution exhibits structural viscosity (shear-thinning) in the closed system. [Pg.348]

The monovalent Co chemistry of amines is sparse. No structurally characterized example of low-valent Co complexed exclusively to amines is known. At low potentials and in non-aqueous solutions, Co1 amines have been identified electrochemically, but usually in the presence of co-ligands that stabilize the reduced complex. At low potential, the putative monovalent [Co(cyclam)]+ (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) in NaOH solution catalyzes the reduction of both nitrate and nitrite to give mixtures of hydroxylamine and ammonia.100 Mixed N-donor systems bearing 7r-acceptor imine ligands in addition to amines are well known, but these examples are discussed separately in Section 6.1.2.1.3. [Pg.9]
