Solution Properties and Molecular Weight Studies

Properties of the Bulk Polymer.—Solution Properties and Molecular Weight Studies. The interaction of 2GT with binary mixtures of chlorinated hydrocarbons has been described and inverse gas-chromatography has been used to study the interaction of organic liquids with 2GT.  

Solution viscosity studies continue to receive attention, with emphasis on the relationship between molecular weight and intrinsic viscosity for poly-(1,4-butylene terephthalate), poly(hexamethylene terephthalate), and poly-(decamethylene terephthalate).  

Osmometric determination of the molecular weight of 2GT and g.p.c. in a new solvent mixture of nitrobenzene-tetrachloroethane, where degradation of the polymer is minimized, has been described. 

Application of g.p.c. to 4GT in fluoroisopropanol and o-chlorophenol has also been reported.
