3 SYNTHESIS OF INORGANIC SOLIDS 3.3.1 Solid-State Reaction Method 

In the solid-state reaction, nucleation and growth have a fundamental role, because, in essence, the solid-state reaction is a phase transformation. In this type of reactions, nucleation and growth follow similar principles as those previously analyzed in Section 3.1 the principal difference being the increased role of diffusion in solid-state reactions [30],

The solgel methodologies are frequently applied since it presents some benefits, such as superior control of the stoichiometry and purity, bigger flexibility for the development of thin films, the possibility to get new compositions, and finally an improved capacity to control the material powder particle size [41],

LiVMoOe was successfully synthesized using the conventional solid-state reaction method, and its chemical and physical properties were examined by several analytical methods. We have shown that LiVMoOe does not possess good structural characteristics for a lithium half cell (Li/LiVMoOe) as a cathode in non-aqueous electrolyte environment. Furthermore, we suggest that LiVMoOe may instead be considered as an anode material of choice for developing rechargeable lithium-ion battery technology. 

BaLnjMnjOy (Ln= Nd, Sm and Eu) were prepared from the conventional solid state reaction method. The starting materials, BaCOs, LnjOj and MnjOj, were mixed with an appropriate molar ratio and pressed into pellets followed by heating finally at 1623 K in purified Ar. 

In this paper we have measured the resistance dependence and oxygen content of Er Ba2Cu 0Q and Y.Ba Cu OQ - samples above room temperature under the conditions or a simulated sintering and annealing process. The results provide insight into the importance of specific sample preparation procedures. We will start with a detailed discussion of the two most common preparation procedures for copper oxide superconductors at this moment the solid state reaction method and the coprecipitation method. A discussion of the resistance and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) data and how it correlates to the sample formation will follow.
