Sodium Sulfate Na2SO

Calculate the percent composition for each element in sodium sulfate, Na2SO,. [Pg.106]

Tests in Concentrated Na2SO Solution. The study was extended to include a practical durability test of the concrete in the corrosive environment of a sodium sulfate plant, whose normal concrete foundations had deteriorated to the point where some needed replacing (Figure 8). Specimens were placed in areas where concentrated solutions of brine would wash over them intermittently, and where the temperature would... [Pg.96]

Solubility system of (—) Na2S04-H20 where R and M refer to rhombic and monoclinic Na2SO, respectively, in H2O and represent Glauber s salt and sodium sulfate hemihydrate, Na2S04-7H20, respectively, at saturation in H2O and (—) Na2S04NaClH2 0 where R and G represent the rhombic form and Glauber s salt, both saturated with NaCl. The dashed line represents a metastable form. Fig. 1. In 1980, >1 one million ts of sodium sulfate were consumed in the United States, but this had declined to <600,0001 by the end of 1994. The decline is parfly a result of higher energy prices and more efficient use of Na2SO by the paper industry. At one time the kraft paper industry consumed two-thirds of sodium sulfate production. Pressures on paper producers to clean effluent streams and reduce eneigy forced improvements in internal processes and recycling of sodium sulfate (11,12). [Pg.206]

Sodium sulfate is also used as a filler in powdered soap and detergents. Introduction of Hquid detergents, in which Na2SO is not used, has also resulted in lower consumption of the sulfate. [Pg.206]

The formula for sodium sulfate is Na2S04. One mole of Na2SO contains 2 mol of sodium ions and 1 mol of sulfate ions. [Pg.794]

A sample of sodium sulfate with a mass of 300.0 g represents more than 1 mol. (Compare 300.0 g to the molar mass of Na2SO. ) We calculate the number of moles of Na2S04 present in 300.0 g as follows ... [Pg.794]
