Skin inflamation contact

Crotamiton (Eurax) is available as a cream or lotion. Suggested guidelines for scabies treatment call for two applications to the entire body from the chin down at 24-hour intervals, with a cleansing bath 48 hours after the last application. Crotamiton is an effective agent that can be used as an alternative to lindane. Allergic contact hypersensitivity and primary irritation may occur, necessitating discontinuance of therapy. Application to acutely inflamed skin or to the eyes or mucous membranes should be avoided. [Pg.1293]

Towards alkalis the disulphide is much less stable than the trisulphide and decomposes almost explosively in an untreated glass flask. Distilled water induces rapid decomposition, whilst contact with alkali causes explosive formation of hydrogen sulphide. When placed on paper or on the skin, rapid decomposition occurs, in the latter case with formation of a white fleck, resembling the effect of hydrogen peroxide. The disulphide resembles the trisulphide in its behaviour with sulphuric acid and with silver oxide it is more readily inflamed than the trisulphide. [Pg.71]

Contact sensitization to aciclovir is rare, but frequent application to inflamed skin in relapsing Herpes simplex may increase the risk of allergy. Severe contact dermatitis in a teenager has been reported. [Pg.30]
