What foods to eat, when and how to exercise, and how often to bathe are just three of the many decisions we make everyday that are based on our knowledge 

This is true for chemistry as well. The chair you sit in to read this manual is made of carbon, and the shampoo you used this morning is a combination of useful chemicals, probably of a synthetic nature. Science is everywhere
