Size Exclusion chromatography data interpretation

Perminova, I. V. (1999). Size exclusion chromatography of humic substances complexities of data interpretation. Soil Sci. 164, 834-840. [Pg.533]

Size exclusion chromatography (SEC) is a powerful method for determining molecular weight distributions of mixtures. Because coal fractions usually contain both polar and nonpolar molecules, interpretation of SEC data is difficult and subject to error. Advantages and problems with tetrahy-drofuran (THE), A(-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, and pyridine have been observed (Lafleur and Nakagawa, 1989) but some investigators continue to employ these solvents, thereby ignoring any pitfalls. [Pg.348]

Prospective methods Several new techniques for the detection of fruit juice adulteration are still vmder development. These include pyrolysis mass spectrometry, size-exclusion chromatography, NIR spectrometry, and an expert system for data interpretation. With the methods of falsifying juices being so numerous and diverse, however, it is vm-likely that any single method will ever be capable of detecting all forms of falsification. [Pg.1591]

In the method developed by Ohtani and co-workers [58], simultaneous-multidetection systems were quantitatively applied to the analysis of end groups. The simultaneous pyrograms of PMMA taken by FID and NPD in the presence of benzothiophene as an internal standard are used for the selective determination of the sulfur-containing chain ends. The simultaneous pyrograms taken by FID and NPD are interpreted in terms of the AIBN residues incorporated into the polymer chains. They compared the results observed by simultaneous multidetection Py-GC with those estimated by size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and kinetic data for the polymerisation. [Pg.287]
