Sipemat

The absorbait polymer was isolated by stirring 100 g of sapon-ificate with 400 of methanol in a Waring blender for 1 min at hic speed (initial precipitation). Sipematant was decanted from settled solid, 200 viL of fresh methanol was added, and the mixture was again blended for 1 min. The mixture was transferred to a beaker, stirred for 30 min, and the solid was collected on a filter. The methanol-wet solid was wei ied and divided into four equal portions, vdiich were then stirred for 30 min with 25 mL of either pure methanol or solutions pr >ared dissolving oonoen-trated Hd (usually 0.5 g or 1.0 g) in 100 niL of methanol. [Pg.290]

Degussa markets a fine particle size grade of sodium aluminium silicate called Sipemat 44 MS for achieving good haze quality in polyethylene and polypropylene film. It also offers Sipemat 310, an antiblock of amorphous silica with very fine particles and a high specific surface area of approximately 750 mVg, for use in polyethylene and polypropylene films where a very low coefficient of friction is required. [Pg.84]

Commerdal name Aerodisp G and W, Aerosil, Bindzil, Levasil, Sipemat... [Pg.14]

On account of the method of production, Sipemat 44 is free from i urities which could load to discolouration. Even a masterbatch of hisd> concentration shows only a diite brlgdttening. There is no yellow or grey discoloration, a phenomenom which is often observed when using other materials. Furthermore, the method of synthetic production and the raw materials used guarantee that a constant quality of Sipemat 44 is delivered. [Pg.239]

In ccnqparison with other antiblocking agents, Sipemat 44 is relatively readily dispersible. Mevertheless, it is advisable to Incorporate Sipemat 44, too, according to one of the usual methods (in most cases knsader) to a masterbatch (concentrate). [Pg.239]

According to e thickness of the foil and the denslty/stiff-ness of the polymer, it is sufficient to add only approx. 0.1% Sipemat 44 in order to achieve a good effect of antiblocking. This low quantity almost does not influence the transparency, lucidity, surface properties and mechanical properties of the film. Due to the high purity of Sipemat 44, a discolouration cannot be observed, even the roll does not show this undesired effect. [Pg.239]

Sipemat 44 can be considered unobjectionable with regard to physiology. [Pg.239]
