Single bond length

In realgar the short non-bonding contact distances are 3.3 A for sulfur-sulfur, 3.6 A for sulfur-arsenic, and 3.5 A for arsenic-arsenic. They are accordingly about 1.2 A greater than the corresponding single-bond lengths, as found in other crystals.

In the compound ONF3, the O-N bond length is 116 pm. The N-O single bond length is 121 pm. Draw resonance structures for ONF3 and explain the short observed bond length. 

Describe the bonding that causes the P-O distance in OPR3 (R = alkyl group) to be somewhat shorter than the usual single bond length.

Since the field was last reviewed,1 a number of linear and cyclic oligogermanes have been reported, as have a number of new methods for the synthesis of polygermanes. The Ge-Ge single bond length is typically considered to be approximately 2.45 A, which is twice the atomic radius of germanium.
