SILVER NITROGEN COMPOUND

Silver(II) Compounds. Sdver(II) is stabilized by coordination with nitrogen heterocychc bases, such as pyridine and dipyridyl. These cationic complexes are prepared by the peroxysulfate oxidation of silver(I) solutions in the presence of an excess of the ligand. An extensive review of the higher oxidation states of silver has beenpubhshed (21). [Pg.90]

Silver is not toxic as a free, elemental metal, but many of its compounds, particularly its nitrogen compounds, are toxic. [Pg.143]

Similar in properties to lead or silver azide, it explodes on heating or impact. See Other ACYL AZIDES, HIGH-NITROGEN COMPOUNDS... [Pg.306]

BIS ( -AMINOETHYL) AMINE (111-40-0) C4H33N3 Combustible liquid [explosion limits in air (vol %) 1 to 10.0 flash point 216°F/102°C cc autoignition temp 676°F/358°C Fire Rating 1]. An organic base. Ignites spontaneously with cellulose nitrate and possibly with other nitrogen compounds. Silver, cobalt, or chromium compounds may cause explosions. Contact with nitromethane forms a heat-, friction-, and shock-sensitive explosive. Violent... [Pg.136]
