Silicon photo-oxidation

Diphenylsila)cyclohexanone, an unusual cyclic acyl silane, has been found to undergo photo-oxidation promoted by ambient light to produce the silicon-containing lactone 55. 1,1-Diphenylsilacyclohexanone was stable in the presence of oxygen in the... [Pg.1646]

The most frequently used substances for n-doping of hematite are oxides of silicon and titanium. Photo-oxidation of water at Si- and Ti-doped hematite has accordingly been studied extensively [1, 6, 7, 12, 18, 20, 21, 61]. In general, the conductivity is improved by these dopants. However, there seems to be a limit for the improvement by doping. For example, concentrations over 0.5 atom percent of titanium in hematite have been stated to have no effect on the resistivity [7]. [Pg.100]

There have been a number of contributions relating to photo-oxidations in which silicon plays a role. The photochemistry of silicon substituted phthalim-ides has been the subject of a review which discusses how organosilanes can participate efficiently as donors in PET, with the resulting radical cations undergoing rapid desilylation, producing radicals that form carbon-carbon... [Pg.190]

The main process that occurs in silicones that contain vinyl groups is photo-scission. Also, the vinyl groups are photo-oxidized into silanols, carboxylic acids, and esters. Part of the silanols are condensed into high molecular weight silicones [585]. [Pg.676]

Photo-chemical stability in PVC mixtures depends strongly on surface activity, particle size distribution, and the filling load of the fillers used. Aging behavior improves with small amounts (0 to 1 vol.%) of silicon dioxide due to improved stabilizer distribution. Larger SiOj loads, however, result in intensified photo-oxidative degradation. Ground natural chalks (calcium carbonate) up to a filler load of 10 vol.% do not influence natural weathering [683]. [Pg.493]

The photodegradation and photo-oxidative degradation of different poly-silicones include two main groups polysilanes (section 4.15.1) and poly-siloxanes (section 4.15.2). [Pg.326]
