Silicon atom, organic group replacement

Silicones (SI) This is a group of materials differing in structure from the rest of organic compounds, due to the presence of the inorganic group Si-O-Si, based on silicon atoms Si which replace carbon in the main chain. The side groups, however, are paraffinic. 

If there is an organic world where silicon atoms (not Si04 groups) replace carbon atoms in proliferating organic compounds , would you expect to find it in a hotter or a colder environment than that provided by the Earth ... 

The preparation of organochlorosilanes by this method requires that the Grignard reagent be added slowly and with stirring to silicon tetrachloride, which then undergoes a series of consecutive competitive reactions to replace the chlorine atoms successively with organic groups. A mixture of substitution products is always obtained, from which the desired compounds must be isolated by distillation.

The compound we use as a reference sample is usually tetramethylsilane, TMS. This is silane (SiH with each of the hydrogen atoms replaced by methyl groups to give Si(CH3)4- The four carbon atoms attached to silicon are all equivalent and, because silicon is more electropositive than carbon, are fairly electron-rich (or shielded), which means they resonate at a frequency a little less than that of most organic compounds. This is useful because it means our reference sample is not bang in the middle of our spectrum ...
