Monoiodized molecules can be separated from uniodized and multi-iodized molecules via HPLC (Bidard et al. 1989) or isoelectric focusing (Rehm and Betz 1982). The isolation of the simply iodized molecule (from a mixture of simply iodized and uniodized molecules) not only provides for a higher specific activity and a better signal/space ratio but simpbfies the interpretation of the binding results. The amount A of a radioactive compoimd at time t is calculated as follows ... [Pg.30]

With this procedure, any signal of the set can be represented as a point in a signal space (the coordinates of sy (t) are Sij, S2/,..., Sjcj). The representation of the signal in this space will be referred to as the signal vector. Thus, the signal detection problem can be viewed geometrically. This is discussed in the following subsection. [Pg.1417]

Note that the signal space is M dimensional as opposed to two dimensional for the case of MPSK. [Pg.1420]

A signal space diagram for M = 3 is shown in Fig. 12.62. For moderately large M, the symbol error probability can be tightly upper bounded by (Peterson, Ziemer, and Borth, 1995)... [Pg.1420]

A signal space diagram is shown in Fig. 12.63 for M = 16 with optimum partitioning of the decision regions. Each signal point is labeled with a Roman numeral I, II, or III. For the type I regions, the probability of correct reception is... [Pg.1421]

A comparison of Eq. (12.127) with Eq. (12.129) and (12.131) shows that the bandwidth efhciency of MFSK and MQASK increases with M whereas the bandwidth efhciency of MFSK decreases with M. This can be attributed to the dimensionality of the signal space staying constant with M for the former modulation schemes, whereas it increases with M for the latter. A comparison of bandwidth efhciencies for the various modulation schemes considered in this chapter is given in Table 12.12. [Pg.1424]

Finally, consider MFSK for which each symbol occupies a separate dimension in the signal space. Thus, aU symbol errors are equally probable, which means that each symbol error occurs with probabflity Pj /(M — 1). Suppose that for a given symbol error k bits are in error. There are... [Pg.1425]

Euclidian distance The length of the vector that is the difference of two other vectors in signal space forms the EucHdian distance between the points defined by these vectors. [Pg.1432]

A signal space is simply a collection of signals (functions) that satisfies a certain mathematical structure. The signal spaces with finite energy and finite power structures are particularly interesting in signal processing. [Pg.120]

The error signal e is the difference between the output y of the nonlinear system and the output y of the linear system. This signal contains the information how well the nonlinear system N is approximated by the linear model G. In order to quantify this error, a norm on the signal spaces has to be defined, describing the absolute value of a signal. Throughout this presentation we will use the Z/2-norm... [Pg.78]

The SVD is an effective method for separating signal space from noise space, and the evaluation of mode shapes is automatic and significantly easier than in the PP. [Pg.36]

Using multiple bipolar gradients of different strengths a six-dimensional k and q signal space can be defined... [Pg.60]
