SiC nanotubes

The reaction was carried out at 80 °C. The catalyst was suspended in a dioxane solution kept in a continuously stirred reactor while the hydrogen supply was bubbled into the liquid. The hydrogenation performance (expressed in terms of conversion) and the selectivity of the Pd/SiC nanotubes catalyst are presented in Table 7.1 and compared with those obtained on a commercial Pd/AC (activated charcoal). [Pg.241]

Fig. 7.18 (A) H2S conversion and the corresponding solid sulfur deposit on the surface of the NiS2/SiC-grains (open symbols) and NiS2/SiC-nanotubes (filled symbols) catalysts as a function of time on stream at 60°C. The sulfur selectivity at 60°C was the total on the two catalysts. (B) SEM micrographs of the SiC nanotubes supported NiS2 catalyst after more than lOOh of reaction with a solid sulfur loading of200wt.%. Metal nanoparticles can be easily introduced into the carbon nanotubes tubule or onto the surface of carbon nanotubes and SiC nanotubes/nanofibers by a simple wetness impregnation followed by classical thermal treatments. It is thought that such new nanoscopic encapsulated materials will display unusual properties as compared to those of their unfilled counterparts and could open new opportunities in the catalysis field. [Pg.248]

The low-temperature selective oxidation of H2S coming from the Claus plant unit using SiC nanotubes/nanofibers is probably not the most appropriate process for a potential industrial application for the next years to come. However, the results obtained allow one to get more insight about the confinement effect operat-... [Pg.248]

SiC nanotubes (SiCNTs) have been synthesized by using CNTs as a template. Forthis,... [Pg.149]
