Shoulder stand

Structure of Oxy-F Compound F is extremely unstable and is difficult to obtain at a level of purity suitable for NMR studies. However, an oxidation product, Oxy-F, formed when F is left standing at — 20° C, is considerably more stable than F and can be purified to a sufficiently high level of purity. Oxy-F is nonfluorescent and shows absorption maxima at 237 nm and 275 nm (shoulder). The high-resolution FAB mass spectrum indicated the molecular formula of Oxy-F to be C33H3809N4Na2 [m/z 703.2363 (M + Na)+ and 681.2483 (M + H)"1"]. The H and 13C NMR data allowed the assignment of structure 7 to oxy-F (Fig. 3.2.6 Nakamura et al., 1988). [Pg.78]

Help by allowing one of the others to stand on your shoulders. [Pg.34]

Finally, I thank those many pioneers of polymer science on whose shoulders we proudly and firmly stand and those currently involved in polymer education for closing ranks and offering the needed solidified stance for the recognition and development of polymer education. [Pg.142]

One day, he called me into his office and pointed out that I was still wearing the shoulder patches I had acquired at Stanford. Out came the long knives Hank told his administrative assistant to find a couple of razor blades. Standing on each side, they unceremoniously cut the patches off, while I stood at attention. [Pg.187]

Stand with your feet slightly apart. Hold your chin with your right hand (if that is your dominant one) and with your left hand hold your right elbow. Turn your head to look past your left shoulder, smile slyly and let your eyes twinkle. [Pg.268]

Shoulder stretch. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent. Place your right arm on your left shoulder. Use your left hand to pull your right elbow toward your left shoulder and hold it in a stretched position for a slow count of 10. Change arms and repeat the exercise. [Pg.134]

Turning, I almost walked into monolithicMissier Grande, who was standing right behind me, watching over my shoulder. But everyone else out there was listening too, so all I had to do was step aside and let them file past me. I beckoned Benzon and Pulaki to join us, since they also qualified as suspects. No one objected to their presence. [Pg.154]

Lastly, the scientific method is based on the altruistic notion that others can take data and information, repeat it, and build upon it. Without repeatability there is no scientific advancement. As Sir Isaac Newton reportedly said, If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants. Treating the mouse as a living reagent will help ensure the creation of a sound foundation on which others can stand upon, build, and hopefully see further. [Pg.24]
