Degradation from the C-terminal of the polypeptide chain has been superseded by the success of the N-teiminal approach, where the Edman degradation and its recent evolution holds the field as having stood the test of time. However, there may still be circumstances that make C-terminal sequence studies desirable, and it may then be useful to be able to build on what has already been done in this area.
