Sensitive soul

As he remarked that I found it difficult to walk upon the lilies, roses, jasmines, carnations, tuberoses, and a prodigious variety of other flowers, most beautiful and curious to behold, which blossomed even upon the road, he inquired, with a smile, if I feared to harm those plants. Animals have, above minerals and vegetables, a sensitive soul, the principle of their life and movement. They are, one may say, the complement of Nature as far as sublunary beings are concerned. God has distinguished and separated the two sexes in this kingdom, so that from two there should come a third. Thus in the most perfect things is manifested more perfectly the image of the Trinity. 

Literature, music and art are the first and most sensitive spheres in which this spiritual revolution makes itself felt[ ] they turn away from the soulless life of the present, towards those substances and ideas which give free scope to the non-material strivings of the soul. I believe these emblems are too important to be dismissed merely as fine examples of symbolic engravings. In the introduction to his best-known work, Les fleurs du mal, Baudelaire described boredom as the most dreadful enemy of the human soul, and thousands of others have written vividly about this phenomenon. We can easily find in famous novels exciting examples of romantic heroes whose life stories clearly illustrate the strange significance of boredom in a human s life. Biographies of creative artists allow us to get insight into the sometimes fatal consequences of the operation of this physiological phenomenon on highly sensitive, creative, human brains. 

In turn, however, the Soul controls the sensitive Nerve System that conveys external and internal observations and perceptions, which are withdrawn from the influence of the Spirit (the Will). 

Whosoever has withdrawn his feelings and his sensitivity from the outer world and directed them towards his innermost, has gained at the beginning of the mystical path, the right to an experience which deeply moves his Soul.

The detector can be considered as the "soul" of a HPLC system. Connected to the outlet end of the column, its role is to monitor the column effluent in real time. Detectors can be the most sophisticated and expensive component of the system. Classification of detectors is of two sorts, selective detectors which give different responses depending on the molecular structure of the sample under analysis, or universal detectors, for whom the response is similar for most compounds. Absorbance and fluorescence detectors are termed selective detectors, while the refractive index (RI) is a "universal detector". The Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) detector is more selective and sensitive, being able to detect amounts as low as lO g/mL, while the RI detector s sensitivity is in the range of lO g/mL. Therefore selective detectors can be used to minimise interference from unwanted components. As for fluorescence detectors, their sensitivity is in the range of lO i g/mL for... 

Enjoy the feelings of the people you love but above all, enjoy your own. Think of their happiness, and your own will be your reward. Forgetting yourself in all matters of tender affection will increase your pleasure in them and decrease the pains of sensitivity. If we allow our personal motives to enter into them, we too often become dissatisfied with others. Our soul dries out, fades and even turns sour. We lose the pleasure of loving, and that of being loved becomes corrupted by worry and hidden sorrows, which are constantly accentuated by our excessive ability to hurt ourselves. 

It is not so much bad actions in themselves which threaten happiness and virtue, as the bad habits they cause in weak and corrupt souls. In a strong, frank and sensitive person, remorse inspires good actions and virtuous habits in an attempt to soothe its bitterness. They wake to find themselves surrounded by comforting thoughts which soften the pain, and find as much pleasure in repentance as in virtue.
