Self-optimizing chemical systems

Design and develop self-optimizing chemical systems. [Pg.10]

Building on the approach that allows optimization of biological systems through evolution, this would let a system produce the optimal new substance, and produce it as a single product rather than as a mixture from which the desired component must be isolated and identified. Self-optimizing systems would allow visionary chemical scientists to use this approach to make new medicines, catalysts, and other important chemical products—in part by combining new approaches to informatics with rapid experimental screening methods. [Pg.10]

On the other hand, in the formation of guanine quartet-based hydrogels, it was shown that the system selected those components that generated the most stable gel [50] (see Fig. 5 in [50]). Such a self-optimization behavior may be of much deeper general significance, namely for prebiotic chemical evolution, whereby selection is driven by phase cohesion, the entity selected being that giving the most stable... [Pg.9]

The last twenty years of the last millennium are characterized by complex automatization of industrial plants. Complex automatization of industrial plants means a switch to factories, automatons, robots and self adaptive optimization systems. The mentioned processes can be intensified by introducing mathematical methods into all physical and chemical processes. By being acquainted with the mathematical model of a process it is possible to control it, maintain it at an optimal level, provide maximal yield of the product, and obtain the product at a minimal cost. Statistical methods in mathematical modeling of a process should not be opposed to traditional theoretical methods of complete theoretical studies of a phenomenon. The higher the theoretical level of knowledge the more efficient is the application of statistical methods like design of experiment (DOE). [Pg.617]
