Self-hardening

Approved compound. Only approved compound and damming fiber may be used. Rags or putty materials may not be used to construct dams. Some cable seals use a self-hardening putty-like material and do not require damming fiber. [Pg.541]

Ester-cured alkaline phenolic system. The resin is an alkaline phenolic resin (essentially the same as the self-hardening resins of this type). Sand is mixed with the resin and blown or manually packed into a core box. A vaporized ester, methyl formate, is passed through the sand, hardening the binder. The total resin and peroxide addition is 1.5%. Compression strengths of 5000 kPa (700 psi) are possible. [Pg.160]

Low-fire clay is available in a variety of colors and can be used successfully for making small decorative items. It will harden when baked in a regular kitchen oven at a low temperature, but it cannot be glazed. Various brands of self-hardening clay are available. It will harden in air, drying with a permanent finish, and it is available in a variety of colors suitable for small decorative objects such as beads and jewelry. [Pg.154]

Because of pyro s self-hardening properties it is not necessary to use fixers containing hardener. If you wish to use an acid stop bath after the water rinse a good fixer to use is Kodak F-24 Nonhardening Acid Fixer. Otherwise, use plain running water and Photographers Formulary TF-4 Fixer (recommended). [Pg.60]

The tensile strength of this self-hardened duralumin is twice as great as that in the soft state and five times as great as pure aluminium. [Pg.325]

In one and the same colloidal system, two opposite tendencies are embodied—a tendency toward a decrease in the total phase interface and enlargement of particles, and a tendency toward self-hardening due to adsorption of stabilizers—usually charged ions. Thus the stabilization of colloidal solutions is caused by the presence of electrolytes or hydration of ions, in particular of the counterions of the diffusional layer bound to the granule. All the factors that will raise the zeta-potential and increase the hydration of the micelles will enhance the stabihty of the sol. And con-... [Pg.121]

Resol - ester (Alkaline phenolic ester hardened) The temperature of the sand is controlled and kept at an optimal level of 15-35 C. The process is less sensitive to temperature fluctuations than other self-hardened systems. The velocity of hardening is managed by the choice of the hardener type [225, TWG, 2003]... [Pg.191]

Another interesting application is a composite material made of hydroxyapatite-chitin-chitosan as bone filling material for guided tissue regeneration, for treatment of periodontal bone defects it forms a self-hardening paste [87,88]. [Pg.71]

An interesting application concerns the chitosan- calcium phosphate cement. Chitosan or chitosan glycerophosphate mixed with calcium phosphate and citric acid forms an attractive injectable self-hardening system for bone repair or filling indications [134, 213, 214],... [Pg.75]
