Selenium compounds with ozone

Methods based on iodine titration with thiosulfate Iodide, being a weak reduc-tant, can react with an enormous variety of oxidants to liberate an equivalent quantity of I2 that can be titrated with thiosulfate. Such oxidants include peroxides, peroxy compounds, peroxydisulfate, ozone, iron(III), chromate, selenium (as Se03 ), silver(II) oxide, xenon trioxide, iodate, and bromate. Bromide can be determined by oxidizing it to bromine, followed by extraction and determination of the bromine... [Pg.364]

Toxicity rules out selenium and tellurium compounds, which have also been reported to have antiozonant activity. Several theories have appeared in the literature regarding the mechanism of protection by p-PDA antiozonants. The scavenger theory states that the antiozonant diffuses to the surface and preferentially reacts with ozone, with the result that the rubber is not attacked until the antiozonant is exhausted. [Pg.49]

I2 DMSO, " MeRe03/H202, " as well as by electrooxida-A ruthenium complex with a small amount of trifluoroacetic acid converts internal alkynes to the a-diketone. Ozone generally oxidizes triple-bond compounds to carboxyhc acids (19-9), but a-diketones are sometimes obtained instead. Selenium dioxide (Se02) with a small amount of H2SO4 oxidizes alkynes to a-diketones as well as arylacetylenes to a-keto acids (ArC=CH ArCOCOOH). " ... [Pg.1776]
