Selective toxicity biological concept

Possibility of selective conversion. Using catalysts it is possible to achieve the preferential conversion of some chemicals, although this concept has not yet really been analysed in detail. However, it is of critical relevance. For example, when an AOP method is used to pretreat wastewater before to be send to a biological unit, the aim is to selectively convert low biodegradable or toxic chemicals, but not other compounds, because this would increase costs. [Pg.60]
