Anticonvulsant A drug used in the treatment of epilepsy, and to reduce the risk of seizures during detoxification from sedative-hypnotics. More recently these drugs have been used in the clinical management of bipolar disorders.

Seizure disorders Because TCAs lower the seizure threshold, use with caution in patients with a history of seizures or other predisposing factors (eg, brain damage of varying etiology, alcoholism, concomitant drugs known to lower the seizure threshold). However, seizures have occurred both in patients with and without a history of seizure disorders. Seizure was identified as the most significant risk of clomipramine use. 

Valproic acid is chemically unrelated to other drugs used to treat seizure disorders.

Drugs Used in Partial Seizures Generalized Tonic-Clonic Seizures... 

The drugs used for generalized tonic-clonic seizures are the same as for partial seizures in addition, valproate is clearly useful. 

A large number of prescription and nonprescription drugs, as well as a variety of plants and mushrooms, can inhibit the effects of acetylcholine at muscarinic receptors. Some drugs used for other purposes (eg, antihistamines) also have anticholinergic effects. Many of them have other potentially toxic actions. For example, antihistamines such as diphenhydramine can cause seizures tricyclic antidepressants, which have anticholinergic, quinidine-like, and a-blocking effects, can cause severe cardiovascular toxicity.
