Segregation of circuits

Figure 3.133 shows a trunking which provides for segregation of circuits. 

A CSTR is a deliberately backmixed reactor and, in principle, its effluent temperature and composition are the same as the reactor contents. With an ideal CSTR, the feed blends instantaneously with the uniform reactor contents. In actual practice, of course, we find that feed blending time may be protracted, and varying degrees of segregation, short circuiting and stagnation exist in the reactor contents.

Optocouplers (IEC 60079-18 also refers to optocouplers and relays) used for segregation of different circuits are considered as not subject to breakdown between the segregated circuits (when encapsulated) and when ... 

Where cables pass through fire barriers, check that the opening is sealed. Ensure that segregation of the telecommunication, fire alarm, emergency lighting and extra-low voltage circuits from the rest of the installation circuits has been effected.
