Segmented intensifiers

Preliminary work on several of these projects has already been in progress for over a year. These initial efforts will be expanded and intensified when the committee on pesticides becomes activated in the near future. However, pursuance of this program will require the support and cooperation of all segments of science and industry. Advisory bodies from the various interested groups will be called upon for recommendations and suggestions on problems which fall within their field. In turn, the assistance of this committee will be available, not only to the medical profession, but to all other groups in any direction in which the committee may be useful. [Pg.64]

The 355-nm pulse is used to excite the sample, and the continuum segments (probe pulses are used to monitor the resulting AA. The probe pulses, after passing through the sample are then focused into a monochromator which has mounted to its output a two dimensional silicon intensified target photodiode array connected to a computer. With the monochromator set at 430 nm, Sundstrom et. al. (24) directly measured the population growth rate of the lowest triplet state of acridine, which when calculated from the data illustrated in Figure 4 is 3 x 10 0 sec l. [Pg.208]

The colorimetric Nesslerization method uses alkaline phenol and hypochlorite to react with ammonia to form indophenol blue in an amount proportional to the ammonia concentration. The blue color is intensified with sodium nitroprusside, and the concentration is measured using a calibrated colorimeter. The titration of basic ammonia is accomplished with standard sulfuric acid using a mixed indicator. Determination of ammonia may also be based upon the indophenol reaction adapted to automated gas-segmented continuous flow analysis. Potentiometric determination of ammonia is performed by ion-selective ammonia electrodes. [Pg.5044]

Transmissimi of energy across the chain producing intensified vibrations of the segments. [Pg.424]

Fig. 6A,B Auxin-induced changes in protein phosphorylation in pea epicotyl segments. A Control B lAA (20 juM). In vivo protein phosphorylation and protein extraction were carried out as described earlier [48]. Equal amount of protein (50 fig) was analyzed on lEF gels (pH 3.5-8) for first dimension followed by second dimension on 8% to 16% linear SDS-PAGE. Dried gels were exposed to X-ray films at -70 C in the presence of intensifying screen. Arrows indicate the phosphoproteins that are affected by auxin [48]... Figure 4. The low-field portions of calculated X-band EPR spectra of S = 5/2 for various values ofD andf/D. Small changes in intensify differentiate spectra for positive (upper) and negative (lower) values of D. Spectra were calculated (with XSophe [37]) with frequency = 9.4 GHz, temperature = 15 K, linewidth = 140 MHz (Gaussian), magnetic field segments = 5 mT, and 32 angular grid partitions. The amplitudes of the spectra are adjusted to represent equivalent numbers of spins. The spectra have additional resonances at fields higher than those shown, but these are rarely observed experimentally because of broadening by distributions in and ). Figure 4.
