Dinitrophenol (2,4-DNP) is an uncoupler of electron transport [22,58,59] and its structural analogues, 4,6-dinitro-2-methylphenol, 2-sec-butyl-4,6-dinitrophenol and Dinoseb are important pesticides [60]. Dinoseb, which is also the major degradation product of the herbicide, Acrex by soil microorganisms [61], is responsible for health and environmental hazards [62]. [Pg.7]
