Screen updating

Molden now has the capacity to export a series of GIF files, creating an additional file with each screen update. Third-party utilities can be used to combine these images in animations with various file formats, including fii and animated GIF files. This is one of the easiest ways to create animations of chemical systems.

The propagation section starts with suppressing screen updating, which speeds up the computation (because the monitor screen need not be redrawn every time a parameter is changed) and keeps the screen serene. When input boxes are used, as in the present example, screen updating in the macro should only be suppressed after the input data have been read, otherwise it would not be possible to enter information into the input boxes by highlighting the corresponding cells. 

An implicit reason that these phenomena are usable in electric and electro-optical devices is the brief interval during which these luminescent processes occur, as electronics require such rapid reactions for high operating frequencies to ensure, for example, constant communication and screen updating. Most fluorescent and phosphorescent processes occur on a time scale of ns to ps or ms to /xs, respectively.

Each PC is forced to save the current data set to memory when a state change occurs or when a programmed time Interval passes without a state change. The save time interval is nominally 200 PC BIOS Ucks (about 11 seconds), and Is not necessarily the same as the screen update interval... 

The loop then continues to process any serial port message, and syrudironlzes time and date with the other PCs. The loop then enters the screen update routine. 

The screen Is updated only If a state edrange has occurred or the update time Intenral has passed. The screen Is not updated every time the loop goes through one cycle because the video hardware Is very slow compared to the rest of the PC. and the time taken by too fiequent screen updates would cause some loss of reactor data.
