The immune response of the marine toad Bufo marinus) was found to be temperature-dependent (73). Upon challenge with llagellin of Salmonella adelaide, antibody-forming cells and humoral antibodies appeared much more promptly at 37° than at 22°C. At the higher temperature, antibody-producing cells first appeared at 3 days, and the number peaked at 7 days at 22°, the corresponding values were 7 and 14 days, respectively.
