Safety training tickets

Making the assumption that the audience hold and are currently in possession of their CSCS cards and tickets when they arrive on site. This positions CSCS cards as a central part of safety training, and by association, with safety competence within the site environment. 

However, it must be recognised that such training extends well beyond safety, despite the often prominent inclusion of safety within the training programmes. Often safety is not realised or even associated with training or tickets, instead as one operative suggested ... 

In the past it was common for the safety professional to be developed from other roles in the mine such as production or maintenance. The person would often have a genuine interest in safety which the mine might develop tlirough short training courses. He would already be familiar with the regulations as part of his previous role so some grounding in OH S plus his operational expertise were often seen to be the ticket to effective safety management.
