Safety in the use of cutting fluids

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations require exposure to metalworking fluids (or cutting fluids), by inhalation, ingestion or skin contact to be prevented where reasonably practicable, or, failing that, adequately controlled. [Pg.120]

The exposure can also cause irritation to the eyes, nose and throat. Metalworking fluids are mostly applied by continuous jet and can enter your body  [Pg.120]

The following precautions, if observed, will reduce or eliminate the likely hazards  [Pg.120]

Open doors and windows where practicable, to improve natural ventilation. [Pg.121]

Do not use compressed air to remove excess metalworking fluids. Avoid direct skin contact with fluids. [Pg.121]
