Ru III Complexes with N-Donors

Thermodynamic and theoretical investigations on (bpy) and (tpy) complexes have been reviewed [785], [Pg.85]

RuC1 (CH3CN)3 is made from RuCl with and CH CN it is brick-red. The X-ray crystal structure of RuCljCCHjCbOj.dCHjCN shows a mer-octahedral geometry. The electrochemistry of the complex was stucUed as were IR and mass spectra. As RuCljCCHjCbOj/aq. L CIO )/ electrodes it oxidised tetralin to tetralone [786]..  [Pg.85]

K[RuClj(H-dmg)2] and K[RuClj(H-dpg)2] (dmg and dpg=monoanions of dime-thyl-glyoxime and diphenylglyoxime) are made from K [Ru(H30)Cl5] and the ligands. As [complex]/PhIO/water they epoxidised cyclohexene, probably via a Ru (0)C1(H-L)3 species [640], [Pg.85]

RuCl(en)(DPA), RuCl(bpy)(DPA) and RuCl(phen)(DPA) (DPA=2,6-dipicolinic acid) are made by reaction of RUCI3, the diamine and DPA in ethanol under reflux. The IR spectra and magnetic moments (p. 1.84, 1.79 and 1.78 B.M. respectively) were measured. As RuCl(bpy)(DPA) and RuCl(phen)(DPA)/PhlO or TBHP/water-dioxane they epoxidised styrene and norbomene and oxidised cyclohexane to cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone. A Ru (0)Cl(diamine)(DPA) species may be involved [792]. [Pg.85]

RuCljCHmpi) (Hmpi=l,3-bis(4-methyl-2-pyridylimino)isoindoline) is made from (Hmpi) and RuClj. As RuCl3(Hmpi)/02/2,6-lutidine or Na(OEt)/25-90°C it oxidised ethanol, 1-propanol and 1-butanol to the aldehydes and 2-propanol and 2-butanol to the ketones. A Ru(IV) alkoxo complex may be formed (e.g. Ru CljCmpiXOC Hj)), which then reacts with another mole of ethanol to give Ru CX(Hmpi)(C2HjOH) and CH3CCHO [793], [Pg.86]
