Road user error model

Prototype models of road user error and contributing conditions... [Pg.147]

The final two steps (Phases three and four) of this research program involve the design (Phase three) and conduct (Phase four) of a proof-of-concept pilot study on road user errors and latent conditions at intersections in Victoria. It is proposed that the pilot study be used to test and refine a novel methodology for collecting human error data within road transport and also to refine and validate the prototype model of road user error and contributing conditions presented in Figure 13.2. The proposed Phase four pilot study has the following three main aims ... [Pg.151]

One of the first steps recommended in lEC 61508 is to determine the boundary of the Equipment Under Control (EUC) and the EUC control system. Since lEC 61508 is directed towards programmable electronics systems, it is natural to think of the road and its users as the EUC and the ITS as the control system. Under such a model, it is also natural to consider modelling hazards at the boundary of the control system, e.g. at the level of errors in the display of signs and signals. [Pg.29]
