Risk criteria, documentation

An acceptance criterion defines the highest accepted risk, as documented for example in a company s SHE policy. The risk is expressed as a combination of the frequency of the occurrence of losses due to accidents per unit of exposure in a specified activity and the consequences of such losses. [Pg.266]

Finding 4-2. One specific criterion for evaluating the modified baseline design, as documented in the NEPA notice of intent for Pueblo, is that the facility be as safe as baseline incineration. Because of the very low risk at Pueblo, it is not clear how this and other criteria can be implemented. [Pg.45]

Multi-criterion analysis is a decision-making tool for qualitative weighting of aggregated impact assessment indicators. Further information is available in the OECD Technical Guidance Document on the use of Socio-economic Analysis in Chemical Risk Management Decision-Making [510]. [Pg.226]

The health assessment chapters of these documents contain the available dose-response data from animal experiments and human epidemiology studies for the chemical or class of chemicals of concern. By assessing the risks associated with various doses, acceptable daily intakes (ADIs - for systemic toxicants) or risk-specific doses (for carcinogens) were derived. These levels were divided by appropriate exposure assumptions (e.g., estimated average water consumption) to derive a criterion. [Pg.449]

In this study assessments of individual road bridges exposed to accidental situations are discussed from a general point of view. Stewart (2010) recommended cost-benefit and other risk-based approaches particularly for low probability-high consequence events where public safety is a key criterion for decision making. That is why methodology of the risk optimisation based on Bayesian networks is developed here. It is noted that the terminology accepted in Eurocodes (EN 1990 2002 for the basis of structural design and EN 1991-1-7 2006 for accidental actions) and other European documents DIRECTIVE 2008 114 EC and Communication COM(2006) 786) is adopted. [Pg.2235]
