Return of Empty Transport Equipment

After the unloading operation has been completed, the consignee must prepare the transport vehicle for return to the supplier. Thus, the consignee now becomes the shipper. [Pg.108]

After a cargo tank has been emptied of a hazardous material, it must remain placarded for the return shipment unless it is (1) reloaded with a material not subject to DOT regulation or (2) sufficiently cleaned and purged of vapors to remove any potential hazard. The return shipping paper for a cargo tank containing the residue of a hazardous material may contain the words Residue or Residue Last contained followed by the name of the material. [Pg.108]
