The future belongs to intimate, friendly cooperation between satellite and aircraft, the satellite doing the roughing out and the aircraft the final polishing, completed... by indispensable ground analysis in company with laboratory studies (Pouquet, 1972, Montreal). 

Although the photographs taken by the Gemini and Apollo astronauts are known the world over, it will be useful here to recall some of their experimental results. 

NASA organized these photographic missions with an eye to terrestrial resources. Apollo 9, for instance, was the only satellite that carried out a systematic multi-spectral photography experiment. The spaceship carried an assembly of four cameras attached to one of the portholes. These were Hasselblads 500 EL with Zeiss //2.8 objectives, having a focal length of 80 mm.
