Resistance, problem with agrochemical

Recent experience with fungicide resistance underlines the need for the early development and implementation of effective, realistic, and enforceable anti-resistance strategies. These strategies should be developed by the agrochemical industry in collaboration with extramural partners. This partnership should also address the manifold problems that remain to be solved to protect the powerful and highly needed modern fungicides from becoming obsolete due to broad resistance development. [Pg.170]

A new insecticide, which is effective at very low dosage with a novel mode of action, is ideal for overcoming issues derived from resistance and ecobiological problems associated with older insecticides like pyrethroids and OPs [1, 2] and is set as a screening target in agrochemical companies worldwide. [Pg.1121]

In the first edition there was nothing on pesticide resistance. There had been a few cases of resistance to the oiganochlorine insecticides but it was not considered an important issue. Now, with 40 plus years of routine use of pesticides, resistance is a common problem in many groups of agrochemicals. It is partly because of resistance issues and the limited production of new chemicals that maity farmers have had to take a more integrated approach to weed, pest and disease control, so a specific chapter was added in the 8th edition. [Pg.622]
