Research needed processing technique

The above laboratory-based successes show the future of this technology is promising, but they need to be supplemented with novel modification and processing techniques that can be scaled for high production levels. These hybrid membranes show considerable potential, however, they still require extensive research before implementation. Fission product recovery may alleviate some waste storage problems but will not nullify the need for low-level waste processing. Indeed, any fission product extraction process will, by its inevitable inefficiency, generate low-level wastes. Thus, continued research and development in the field of low-cost waste processing techniques, is probably justifiable. 

With the end of the battery research, the need for processing became evident, as new ideas connected with LEDs emerged. These demanded a kind of solvent-based processing technique. On the basis of work by Elsenbaumer et al. [44], a variety of soluble conductive polymers and solvents, even for doped polyaniline, have been proposed. This question was discussed shortly in Section 1.2. Here, only conductive polymers will be discussed. 

If large samples need to be separated, the diameter, and also often the length, of the column are increased. (Obviously, open capillaries cannot be used for this purpose.) Preparative GC is an attractive approach (though the fraction collector needs to be cooled) but few commercial instruments are available. Preparative LC is the most important technique in organic synthesis, biochemical research, downstream processing in biotechnology, and for the commercial preparation of certain chemicals or drugs. 

The authors proposed to continue the work since substantial extra research needed before these concepts could become a practical reality, such as further investigation of image processing techniques for conversion to 3D models using CAD/CAM systems.
