Renshaw

Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter at the neuromuscular junction in autonomic ganglia and at postgangHonic parasympathetic nerve endings (see Neuroregulators). In the CNS, the motor-neuron collaterals to the Renshaw cells are cholinergic (43). In the rat brain, acetylcholine occurs in high concentrations in the interpeduncular and caudate nuclei (44). The LD q (subcutaneous) of the chloride in rats is 250 mg/kg. [Pg.102]

Other products of pharmacological interest in this connection are dealt with by Hunt and Renshaw, by Lee, van Arendonk and Chen, by Bender, Sprites and Sprinson,i by Morrison, and by Work . It should be noted that Amanita spp. also contain toxins, on which a considerable amount of work has been done, especially with A. phalloides. ... [Pg.660]

A procedure for testing previously activated specimens applied in studies of titanium was described by Bayer and Kachik Renshaw and Ferree also employed prior activation in their studies of the passivation characteristics of stainless steels. [Pg.980]

Since ACh is the transmitter at the skeletal neuromuscular junction one might also expect it to be released from any axon collaterals arising from the motor nerve to it. Such collaterals innervate (drive) an interneuron (the Renshaw cell) in the ventral horn of the spinal cord, which provides an inhibitory feedback onto the motoneuron. Not... [Pg.131]

Convenient ready-to-use nuclear counterstains in blue, green or red colour like Hematoxylin, Methyl Green and Nuclear Fast Red are available from Vector Laboratories (http //www.vectorlabs.com/), DAKO (http //www.dako.com/) and some other vendors, but if you are interested in preparing nuclear counterstains yourself, good and thorough procedures may be found in textbooks of Polak and Van Noorden (1997) and Renshaw (2007) or on the website http //www.ihcworld. com/counterstain solutions.htm. [Pg.66]
