Removal of a Lockout Device in the Authorized Employee s Absence 

If the authorized anployee is not available to remove the lockout device, it may be removed only under the following circumstances  

Upon certifying that the authorized employee is not at the facility. 

After reasonable efforts have been made to contact the authorized employee to inform him or her of the need to remove the device(s). 

After ensuring the authorized employee has knowledge of the removal before work is resumed.
