Rejuvenation effects

Based on our own data and the literature data we can rather draw the conclusion that in long-term heterochronic systems the mature elements, originated from the old organism, dominate and their influences were found to be active. But even in old organism, the stem cells do preserve their restorative potential and become capable of generating cells with young characteristics under appropriate conditions. And the question about reverse impacts of stem cells on old organism (so called rejuvenation effect) remains uncertain and till now unresolved and needs further research.

In the GRP model type 1, the corrective maintenance has a rejuvenating effect proportional to the time elapsed since the previous maintenance. The virtual age (Ar) of the equipment immediately after the r th mamtenance action (at time tr) is given by the formula 6. 

The patients were contacted with regard to safety and ARs after their treatment. A total of 115 patients had IPL treatments to the face from immediately before to up to 700 days after PLLA injection to the face. Of them 90 patients responded 19% experienced oedema, 17% bruising, 10% erythema, 7% nodule formation after PLLA injection with zero nodules occurring after IPL and 12% reported mild discomfort during the IPL treatment. The majority of patients (86.7%) reported at least mild photo rejuvenation effects from the combination of PLLA and IPL treatments, with 64.4% reporting good to excellent correction independent of number of treatments. 

TCA has been the most versatile of all peeling agents and has been used in concentrations weight-per-volume from 15% to 50%. As concentration increases, ablative injury is greater as well as rejuvenative effects for photoaging skin. In most patients, TCA in concentrations above 25-30% affects the dermis as well as epidermis, having the effect of medium and deeper chemical peels (Fig. 14.5).
