Recycling continued technologies

As the search of technology for carpet recycling continues, carpet also is being redesigned for better recyclability. Reuse of reconditioned carpet is being considered for extending its life. [Pg.720]

Thickened cake discharge can simply be into a hopper which is emptied by a pump actuated by level probes in the hopper. However, modern technology often requires the discharge to be monitored for solids content, if not rate. For this a small stirred buffer tank is used. A sample from this tank is pumped and recycled continuously to provide a continuous sample. The stirred buffer tank is sized to smooth out major fluctuations which can occur in the decanter discharge, due to hold-up in the casing. [Pg.318]

P r ho. The Paraho retorting technology is similar to the PETROSIX technology except that it can be operated in the direct heat (DH) mode. The unique feature of the Paraho technology is the two levels of heat input (Fig. 4). In the IH mode, the air blower shown in Figure 4 is replaced by a recycle gas heater. The Paraho DH operation has been carried out neat Rifle, Colorado since the 1970s operations to produce asphalt (qv) from shale oil are continuing. [Pg.349]

In contrast to the hydrolysis technology, the methanolysis process allows for the one-step synthesis of organosdoxane oligomers and methyl chloride without formation of hydrochloric acid (64,65). The continuous methanolysis can also yield quantitatively linear sdanol-stopped oligomers by recycle of the cycHc fraction into the hydrolysis loop. [Pg.45]

The forecasts made in 1985 (77) of 8—8.5% worldwide aimual growth have not materialized. The 2 x lOg + /yr engineering plastic production reported for 1985—1986 has remained fairly constant. Whereas some resins such as PET, nylon-6, and nylon-6,6 have continued to experience growth, other resins such as poly(phenylene oxide) have experienced downturns. This is due to successhil inroads from traditional materials (wood, glass, ceramics, and metals) which are experiencing a rebound in appHcations driven by new technology and antiplastics environmental concerns. Also, recycling is likely to impact production of all plastics. [Pg.277]

BP Chemicals studied the use of chloroaluminates as acidic catalysts and solvents for aromatic hydrocarbon allcylation [41]. At present, the existing AICI3 technology (based on red oil catalyst) is still used industrially, but continues to suffer from poor catalyst separation and recycling [42]. The aim of the work was to evaluate the AlCl3-based ionic liquids, with the emphasis placed on the development of a clean... [Pg.275]

A pilot plant for the high temperature pyrolysis of polymers to recycle plastic waste to valuable products based on rotating cone reactor (RCR) technology. The RCR used in this pilot plant, the continuous RCR was an improved version of the bench-scale RCR previously used for the pyrolysis of biomass, PE and PP. 9 refs. [Pg.64]

The performance of the Sonogashira reaction is claimed to be the first example of a homogeneously metal-catalyzed reaction conducted in a micro reactor [120], Since the reaction involves multi-phase postprocessing which is needed for the separation of products and catalysts, continuous recycling technology is of interest for an efficient production process. Micro flow systems with micro mixers are one way to realize such processing. [Pg.483]

Many are the advantages of CWs for treating wastewater and runoff. They are a cost-effective and technically feasible technology. The expenses of operation and maintenance (energy and supplies) are low, requiring only a periodic, rather than continuous, on-site labor. CWs are tolerant to fluctuations in flow and facilitate water reuse and recycling. Additionally, they provide habitat for many wetland organisms and benefits to wildlife habitat.37... [Pg.393]
