Inserting the C-terminus of the a1B-AR into the a1A-AR resulted in a receptor chimera that was more extensively phosphorylated and desensitized than the wild-type a1A-AR (50). These results indicate that C-terminal sequences control the phosphorylation and desensitization of the ocrARs. Price et al. (51) demonstrated that the a1A-AR was internalized and desensitized in an apparent GRK2-dependent manner. In contrast to the results with a1B-AR or those obtained by Vazquez-Prado et al. (50), Price et al. (51) showed that neither agonist-mediated internalization nor desensitization of the a1A-AR was dependent on sequences in the C-terminal tail.
