To accommodate such measurements, the reactor set introduced in Section 4.2.3 was equipped with a second insulation module and a second rotary valve. The latter replaced the gas distribution module of the steady-reactor configuration 

For the following tests, a wound spiral was manufactured by fine mechanical means (1.5 m long with a rectangular cross-section of 1.0x0.5 mm2). The reaction plate could be heated by a 500 W foil heater that had a number of borings to allow gas to pass through the heater.
