Reactions with Halogens and Organic Halides

Most transition-metal hydrides react readily with halogens. For example, an excess of I2 totally decomposes ReHs(PPh3)3 to Re02, but stoichiometric amounts of I2, Br2, or SnCl2 give halido-tetrahydrido complexes  [Pg.23]

Organic halides can also act as halide sources. Many polyhydrides decomopose in halogenated solvents over time to yield the corresponding metal halido complexes. The reactivity of the halogenated hydrocarbon increases with the halogen content  [Pg.24]
